CSPAN: Tavis Smiley’s “State of the Black Union” 2009

Yesterday I saw part of C-SPAN’s coverage of radio and TV personality Tavis Smiley’s panel discussion on the “State of the Black Union,” and it id didn’t disappoint. Featuring a well-selected panel of experts, the exchange was spirited and detailed.  Little was sacred during the proceedings as some of the sharpest minds in America analyzed the status of race relations in America, what Barack Obama’s election means to the nation at large and specifically to American blacks, “blowback,” hate groups, and many other equally pertinient issues.

If you get a chance, it’s worth a look. If you find the agenda, you can cruise YouTube for Highlight clips. You can also watch it here.

At this pivotal time in our history, I thought the exchange was particularly relevant, meaningful and insightful.
