Back in the early 90’s I was drawn to what was being marketed as alternative radio. I’ve never much cared for pop, always had broad musical interests and constantly sought new stuff.
One of the bands that stuck out then was Cowboy Mouth, a high-energy outfit with NOLA roots and terrific vocals. Their hooks were catchy, their solos great and their sound, unique. I became an instant fan and while I’ve never seen them live they have a reputation for tearing it up onstage. Songs recorded uptempo are often rendered at breakneck speeds live and audience participation is “highly encouraged”.
With a singing drummer expert at both, (a feat that indeed takes talent/skill–we’re not talking Mickey Dolenz here), they’re a lot of fun. And fun to watch.
Hope you enjoy this live rendition of what I know as their biggest “hit,” “Jenny Says,” from an album that was a monster, one I still enjoy turned up. Their current stuff sounds every bit as good. They’re quite a band.
