Ken Burns Loses GM as Backer

Documentary producer Ken Burns, made famous by PBS documentaries from “The Civil War” to “Baseball,” to “Jazz” and “The War” recently lost the financial support of his biggest backer, General Motors.  Burns finished his last GM-financed project, a six-part series calledThe National Parks: America’s Best Idea,” set to air this fall.  Known for long format historic documentaries, Burns and GM’s relationship is long-standing.

Burns’ spokesperson Dave Donovan expressed Burns’ gratitude for GM’s support, calling it “an extraordinary contribution to public television.”
