Orly Ortiz, the beacon illuminating the critically clueless, bitter, “birther” band is threatened with sanctions if she continues to foster the madness that has grown from the baseless uber right-wing talking point that our 44th president, Barack Obama isn’t our legitimate leader due to its contention that he’s an illegal alien. Despite official records and documents that prove their allegations to be pigeon droppings, the “birthers” remain the “toast of the tea parties,” Glenn Peckerwood Beck’s “912 Project” and any other assembly of right-wing shit-slingers to have garnered the attention of right-wing media, including CNN’s sagacious Lou Dobbs, who to the network’s chagrin, lends affirmation and credibility to their cause whenever he’s not denying it.
At issue was the case of US Army Captain Connie Rhodes, who sued to resist deployment on the basis that Obama as an illegal immigrant could not preside as commander-in-chief of the armed forces and hence, had no authority to deploy troops. Judge Clay Land of the US District Court in Columbus, Georgia, threw out the case.
Represented by birther leader Orly Taitz, Judge Land “has presented no credible evidence and has made no reliable factual allegations to support her unsubstantiated, conclusory allegations and conjecture that President Obama is ineligible to serve as president of the United States.”
The judge’s ruling represents a significant legal defeat for Taitz and the birther movement, which received a great deal of attention from the media this summer. Media watchdog groups specifically targeted CNN’s Lou Dobbs, who gave the discredited theory that Obama was not born in the United States a disproportionate amount of coverage, according to some observers.
Taitz was behind this summer’s release of a purported “Kenyan birth certificate” for President Obama, which was dated two years after the president’s 1961 birth date, and contradicted Hawaiian officials’ long-standing insistence that the president’s Hawaiian birth certificate is legitimate.
Judge Land ruled that that document, which evidently formed the backbone of the plaintiff’s case, was illegitimate because Taitz’s organization paid money to acquire it, making it tantamount to bribery.
This isn’t, however, the final axe to fall. In California, a US District Judge allowed another case challenging President Obama’s citizenship. Brought by a Capt. Pamela Barnett, it also involves Taitz. Commencing in October, it could also get tossed. One can only hope.
