As a two-term U.S. Senator, Bayh served as chair of the Democratic Leadership Council and the Moderate Democrat Working Group (sic). Bayh retired from the Senate in February 2010, saying, “I love working for the people of Indiana, I love helping our citizens make the most of their lives, but I do not love Congress,” he said. “I will not, therefore, be a candidate for election to the Senate this November.”
